Titans' Reed named top ACBL prospect

TORRINGTON, CT (Sept. 1, 2010) - Perfect Game, baseball's most comprehensive scouting service, recently named Torrington Titans lefty Chris Reed (Stanford) as the top professional prospect during the the 2010 Atlantic Collegiate Baseball League season.

Reed was one of four Titans who made the ACBL's Top 25 list - three of which were included in the top 12.

Eric Smith (Stanford) made the list at No. 3, followed by Brandon Smith (Old Dominion) at No. 12. Brian Busick (Stanford), who left Torrington due to injury weeks before the season ended, made Perfect Game's ACBL list at No. 16.

Of the top 17 summer collegiate leagues, a Stanford player earned top prospect honors in three leagues (Mark Appel, Newport, NECBL; Steve Piscotty, Oilers, Alaska).

The members of OBH also voted Reed's 10-strikeout performance against Long Island to clinch the Kaiser title as the Titans Performance of the Year.

Reed was stellar in the playoffs for the TItans, earning two saves (Staten Island and Long Island) before the Game Three performance.
